Nothing is more important in designing a new house than understanding the site: key views, the slope of the land and how the water runs on it, the sun’s path at all seasons, sheltering for prevailing winds, potential growth of trees, and the quality of native plants. Often, while working on a project I make drawings of the site. These drawings along with images from projects completed previously help our clients understand how the fundamental nature of the site affects the design for a new residence.
