Completed in 2011, this building incorporates a private library, guest quarters, an outdoor piazza with an oven, and maintenance facilities for a year-round home known as Two Ponds. The project required careful siting across from the main dwelling, as the owners and their landscaping team had already established portions of a beautiful garden which rolls down from the site to two ponds. The owners are well-travelled and their project brief included wishes for Italian, Scandinavian, and Japanese notions. They are publishers of Two Ponds Press, a fine art press that follows in the footsteps of artist Leonard Baskin and also represent Baskin’s Gehenna Press. The new library houses a broad collection of Baskin’s sculpture, graphics, and books.
